Training and
experience

I trained as a clinical psychologist at the University of Natal, and later completed a doctorate (PhD) on the management of chronic pain and illness. I have had further training in psychotherapy in Germany and the USA. I was professor and director of training in Clinical Psychology at the Universities of Natal/KwaZulu-Natal, and practiced part-time as a clinical psychologist. I am now in full-time practice in Pietermaritzburg.

Collaborative International Research

In addition to working as a psychotherapist I am involved in collaborative international research projects on HIV, men and masculinity, and spirituality and psychology.

But I also have considerable experience in other methods such as cognitive behaviour therapy.
